Since 1970,Permata Emas Bintang has been retailering in color gemstones business. On 1970, the founder, Mr Yahya Osman started his career in gems business as a miner cum trader of natural ruby and sapphire in Pailin, Cambodia. He exported the gem stones globally, as Pailin was a popular ruby and sapphire producer back then. However, due to inevitable civil war in 1975, the mining activities were forced to halt and the mines were seized by Communist Regime in Cambodia. Since gem stones was part of his 'blood', he was determined to start the business in same industry, and Permata Emas Bintang was set up in 1982 in Malaysia.
